Description:

Stripe is hiring a Software Engineering Intern for its core University Program at the Stripe Delivery Center in Bangalore. Designed for engineering students, this high-impact internship avoids isolated mock tasks, embedding each intern directly into production roadmap squads to build real, scalable systems. You will ship code that directly expands global commerce infrastructure—handling projects ranging from high-concurrency statistics aggregation engines and internal service discovery fabrics to user-facing optimizations within the core Stripe Checkout runtime. Backed by a dedicated Intern Manager, you will participate in code reviews, technical design sprints, and architectural feedback loops to foster both technical depth and systems-level engineering confidence.

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative STEM discipline.
• Completion of at least 2 years of university-level education or equivalent technical work exposure.
• Solid practical familiarity with at least one major language utilized across Stripe's core stack (including Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, or Go), alongside a proven ability to learn new programming design paradigms quickly.
• A strong, definitive fundamental command over core computer science building blocks—specifically data structures, sorting/searching algorithms, object-oriented principles, and basic distributed systems logic.
• Prior experience operating within multi-person technical projects—such as open-source library contributions, competitive hackathons, or previous technical internships—demonstrating a proven ability to incorporate peer and mentor code feedback.
• Basic high-level structural understanding of cloud application workflows, including how backend services process, route, and respond to incoming HTTP request streams.
• Practical understanding of drafting well-structured Git pull requests, writing clear unit/functional tests to achieve robust coverage, and minimizing runtime defects.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication habits to clearly document, demo, and present complex technical project milestones. A highly proactive mindset to seek advice, research unfamiliar codebases independently, and commit to a 100% onsite, work-from-office operational calendar in Bangalore.
